DJ Snare - As the founder of Trutone Records, DJ Snare always had a yearning passion for music while sharing all of his creations with other artists on a daily basis. As a child, DJ Snare, (née Jason Sweet), grew up in London, UK where he was exposed to all kinds of music. One of his influences is the sensational Mr. Carlos Soulslinger of New York City who introduced Jungle music as a Music Producer establishing JungleSky Records back in 1990. Later, Jason attended high school in Hollywood, California where he studied piano, music composition, and guitar. From there, he entered the realm of the underground and has produced two previous works on 12" vinyl for retail. Then he decided to start his own independent record company, Trutone Records. DJ Snare usually pays his time to the Jungle scene and also enjoys working with House and Disco as they were available to him throughout his youth. "We will be strong, and we will make certain that this method of getting music heard will become successful and prevail". DJ Snare has held numerous parties, his last held on Memorial Day of 2004 selling out with 500 guests. Other appearances include DJ competitions held at the famous Stonewall Bar and Nite Club in Manhattan. Recently, Trutone Records added the talents of the artist Mr. Mamaboobu, who music has struck a chord with Trutone Records.
Mr. Mamaboobu - This young, up-and-coming producer/artist is one of the most promising talents out there. His musical compositions are chalked with smooth rhythms and infectious melodies that will have every bone of your body moving to his beats. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1981, Mr. Mamaboobu (née Jermeitrik Christian) was raised mostly in Fort Worth, Texas. Even as a child, music would play a factor in his life, (i.e., his involvement in his high school band and choir as well as his church choir.) After finishing high school as an award-winning state soloist in tuba and voice, he enrolled at the prestigious Lake Forest College in suburban Chicago, where he met up with up-and-coming rapper, Knockz (a.k.a. Kevin Reed) and a producer of electronic music called Bloodcherry/DJ Ero (a.k.a. Erica Thomas). They, along with another rapper/guitarist, The M.A.T. (a.k.a. Mark Thompson) collaborated on an album for their African-American Studies Project called “Welcome To The E-Nu-Vurz”, which received rave reviews and academic accolades. Through the alias, Nu Balance, he has produced many tracks for mix tapes and raves during his college years. After graduating with a B.A. in International Relations, he changed his alias to Boojillah Mamaboobu, or Mr. Mamaboobu for short and moved back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he began to pursue his music full time. By a stroke of luck, he met up with a St. Louis DJ, Jason Sweet, who happened to own Trutone Records. He sent him a demo of his house song, “Freedom (For All The Oppressed)” and the rest is history. Today, Mr. Mamaboobu continues to work all over the music spectrum from Hip-Hop and R&B to House, Jungle, and Trance. He is currently promoting his single as well as working with up-and-coming artists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the Chicago area.
